5 Fun Ways to Make Use of Your Lawn This Summer

Summer is just around the corner, and we all know what that means – it’s time to get your BBQ out, pool filled, and lawn ready to enjoy the great outdoors once again. If you haven’t started to plan or prep your yard for the summertime just yet, check out these five fun ways to make use of your lawn this summer and get the most out of everyone’s favourite season.

Have A Picnic

We all love a picnic on a beautiful summer’s day, but few people have the time to head to the park to enjoy one. Fortunately, you can create your very own picnic space in your backyard in only a matter of minutes. To create a cozy experience, all you need is a large blanket, a picnic basket to pack your food, dishware and cutlery, and of course, a variety of delicious food to enjoy. You can even take it up a notch with portable speakers to play your favourite tunes while you lounge in the sun.

Turn It Into A Dog-Friendly Space

Do you keep your dog inside because you’re worried it will try to escape or get into something it shouldn’t? You can solve this problem by creating a dog-friendly space. First, block off any potential escape routes by filling any gaps along your fence. And if you’re concerned about your lawn getting ruined, create a designated area by placing down some wood boards and top it with sand, pebbles and gravel so your dog can use this area whenever they need to go.

Add A Kiddie Pool

If you’re looking for a way to keep the kids entertained all summer long, just add an inflatable kiddie pool. Kids always love playing games and cooling off during those hot summer days. This goes for large dogs who need to cool down in the summer too! Just remember to empty and refill the water each time they use it to prevent exposure to germs and bacteria.

Plan An Adults-Only BBQ Night

Mom and dad deserve a little entertainment time too. Planning an adults-only BBQ night will let you and your friends enjoy some time to wine and dine away from the kids.  Even if you don’t have a large deck, you can transform an area of your backyard into a BBQ-friendly space with a few additions, like patio chairs, stones and some lights strung to create a cozy and inviting ambience.

Throw An Outdoor Games Day

Another great way to make use of your lawn this summer is to throw an “Olympic style” games day. You can include whatever games you enjoy most – croquet, badminton, volleyball, horseshoes. For the kids, try organizing a game of tag, capture the flag or soccer. Whatever you choose, this is always a popular way to get people outside and having a good time.
